Grand Prairie United Charities


Provides a short-term supply of groceries and miscellaneous personal and childcare items once every thirty days to residents of Grand Prairie.

Provides direct financial assistance of partial rent/mortgage/shelter payment once every twelve months to residents of Grand Prairie.
Provides direct financial assistance for prescriptions and medications, once every six months.

Provides information about social service agencies for those who need further help.

All participants must meet CDBG income guidelines in order to qualify for services.

Brighter Tomorrows


Provides emergency shelter for individuals fleeing domestic abuse or sexual assault.

Provides food, clothing, emergency transportation, 24-hour crisis intervention, legal assistance, support groups, case management and counseling.

Star Group Community Development Corporation


Provides employment training, education and counseling services for the STARS Re-Entry Program.

Grand Prairie Wellness Center


Provides free medical services including dental, chiropractic and other services to patients with family income at or below 80% of the area median income, meeting the CDBG guideline.

Lifeline Shelters for Families


Provides services to address homelessness within the Grand Prairie community for families with children enrolled in Grand Prairie Independent School District.

Provides 1-3 months of rent assistance to families of Grand Prairie Independent School District students who are at risk for homelessness and would be homeless but for Lifeline’s assistance.

Provides financial assistance to Lifeline clients who are already homeless to move into an apartment within the Grand Prairie I.S.D. Assistance will be limited to 1-3 months

Children First


Children First, Inc. dba Children First Counseling Center

Provides therapeutic mental health counseling to persons qualifying for assistance through the CDBG program based on low-mod income eligibility.

At GPHNS our mission is to provide community service programs designed to meet the needs of the Grand Prairie community and its citizens for housing, healthy and safe neighborhoods, economic development, neighborhood revitalization, in an efficient, timely, courteous and knowledgeable manner. The city's Housing and Neighborhood Services offers programs designed to assist the low-to-moderate income Grand Prairie residents with safe, affordable housing.
